Coume del Mas
About the Winery
Coume del Mas was created in 2001 by Philippe Gard, an agronomic engineer and oenologist, and his wife Nathalie. Located in Cosprons, near the Anse de Paulilles on the Mediterranean coast, the estate covers 14 hectares of terraced vineyards at altitudes ranging from sea level to nearly 380 meters. The domaine produces wines from the Banyuls and Collioure appellations, with 80% of production dedicated to Collioure reds. The schist soils and extreme slopes make mechanization impossible, requiring all work to be done by hand in what is known as 'heroic viticulture.' The estate is rated 3 stars by Bettane & Desseauve for its high-quality production. Their wines are known for intensity, refinement, and the unique expression of this coastal mountain terroir.
“A 14-hectare estate in Cosprons producing intense Banyuls and Collioure wines from schist terraces by the Mediterranean.”
