About the Winery

Xavier Copel is a négociant-éleveur (notably with the brand Primo Palatum) who has created a partnership with a single winegrower per appellation (Bordeaux, Sauternes, Pauillac, Haut-Médoc, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, and Pomerol), allowing him to buy grapes, vinify, and then age wines under his Copel brand. Born in Cahors, Xavier Copel discovered his passion for wine at university. After working at Domaine de Chevalier, he created Copel Wines in 1992. The signature on his labels is the actual calligraphy of his ancestor Antoine, the first Copel to go to Algeria after the 1848 Revolution.
