Château Carcanieux et les Lattes

25, chem. de Lescapon, 33340 Queyrac, France

About the Winery

The wine from this cru, born on a very gravelly hill, was long sold under the name 'Carcanieux Les Graves Les Lattes'. Since 1968 there have been two labels: Château Carcanieux and Château Les Lattes, a 42-hectare ensemble now owned by the Taillan group. Located in the Médoc, the vineyard is situated on a gravelly outcrop between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary. The history of Carcanieux dates back to the 15th century when it was a fiefdom of moors and marshes. The vineyard was developed after the draining of the estuarine marshes in the 16th century. The estate produces two wines that express their terroir differently: Château Carcanieux from sandy-gravelly plots and Château Les Lattes from clay-loamy plots.
