About the Winery

In 1979, Jean-Francis Thomann, son of a small winegrower from Ingersheim, took over the Clos du Letzenberg, which had been established in 1852 on a steep hillside overlooking the Fecht valley but had been abandoned after 1914. He eventually left his job at the bank and involved his family in the adventure. The family restored the dry stone retaining walls, cleared the land, planted and now carefully tends 10 hectares of vines. The estate is certified HVE (High Environmental Value). Located in picturesque Ingersheim in the heart of Alsace, the domaine produces wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Letzenberg hillside.
