About the Winery

Jean-Jacques Mailhac took over this domaine in 1992 and has since converted it to organic agriculture. The name 'Marquise des Mures' (Marquise of Blackberries) refers to the shepherd girls who once led their goats to clean the edges of the vines; these girls loved the brambles so much that they only left a few blackberries to savor. The estate is located in Roquebrun in the Saint-Chinian appellation, producing red, white and Rose wines from typical Languedoc grape varieties including Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. The unique terroir of Roquebrun, with its schist soils and Mediterranean climate moderated by the Orb river, gives the wines their distinctive character of youth and vivacity.

An organic estate in Roquebrun within the Saint-Chinian appellation, named after the shepherd girls who tended the vineyard edges.
