About the Winery

Only a few stones remain of the 'château du centre' (Mittelburg) that gave its name to the domaine, located south of Colmar. More interesting are the limestone and clay-limestone terroirs of Pfaffenheim, where the Martischang family has been established since the 16th century. Michel took over from Henri in 2007. The property is certified HVE (High Environmental Value). The estate produces the full range of Alsace wines from the seven traditional grape varieties, expressing the unique limestone terroir of Pfaffenheim that gives the wines their characteristic minerality and freshness.
