Domaine Mathias
About the Winery
The Mathias family has been producing wines in Chaintré since 1894. Béatrice and Gilles took over in 1992, farming 10 hectares organically since 2010. The estate was certified organic in 2013. In 2016, their son Thibault took over, representing the new generation that blends family heritage with innovation. The domaine spans 12 hectares of sun-drenched clay-limestone hillsides in the Mâconnais, producing prestigious appellations including Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Vinzelles, Mâcon-Chaintré (white and red from Gamay), and Saint-Véran. Vinification uses indigenous yeasts and aging on long lees to enhance aromatic richness and texture. The continuity of an early organic tradition in Burgundy, with an uncompromising approach to expressing the complexity of Mâconnais terroirs.
“Six generations of family winemaking in Chaintré since 1894, certified organic since 2013, producing Mâconnais appellations including Pouilly-Fuissé.”
