About the Winery

In a half-timbered house in the medieval town of Dambach-la-Ville, the domaine has distant origins dating back to 1590. Florian Beck-Hartweg took over from his parents Yvette and Michel in 2009. He is now joined by his wife Mathilde. They cultivate 6 hectares of vines organically certified since 2011, on the hillsides surrounding the town in the Bas-Rhin. The estate practices biodynamic viticulture inspired by the writings of Masanobu Fukuoka, allowing wild plants to grow around vines, rolling them over to create mulch. They took over a stunning parcel in Rittersberg below the Ortenbourg medieval castle. The wines are vinified with wild yeasts in old oak casks, unfiltered and without added sulfites. The estate produces natural wines from terroirs including the Grand Cru Frankstein, with field blends of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois and Riesling.
