Sylvain Hertzog
About the Winery
An 8-hectare estate established southwest of Colmar, in Obermorschwihr, a village known for its half-timbered bell tower. Sylvain Hertzog established himself on the family farm in 1977. The independent winemaker cultivates about 8 hectares using reasoned farming (lutte raisonnée) to preserve the vineyard. The vines have natural grass cover, planted alternately for the most part to benefit from better sun exposure, with manual harvesting. The domaine produces atypical, gastronomic wines with strong fruit character, thanks to the clay-marl-limestone soil and a lieu-dit called 'Bildstoecklé' that gives the wines their unique character. Some wines are aged in barrels from the Hospices de Strasbourg for those who appreciate woody notes. The estate offers free tastings.
