Joseph Freudenreich

3, cour Unterlinden, 68420 Eguisheim, France

About the Winery

The Freudenreich ancestors settled in Eguisheim in 1737, a medieval citadel where the family welcomes visitors in a former tithe courtyard. Joseph Freudenreich began bottling his wine as early as 1900 for the workers of the potash mines where he also worked. His grandson Marc started vinifying in 1978 and took over the domaine ten years later. He was joined by his daughter Amélie in 2015. The family vineyard is planted around Eguisheim and Saint-Hippolyte, covering several hectares of diverse terroirs. The estate produces the full range of Alsace wines from the seven traditional grape varieties, including Grand Cru wines from the Pfersigberg and Eichberg vineyards, as well as Crémant d'Alsace. The estate is certified HVE (High Environmental Value) and offers tastings and cellar visits daily from 10am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 6pm.

A family rooted in Eguisheim since 1737, bottling wines since 1900 and crafting the full range of Alsace varieties from prestigious Grand Cru terroirs.
