Domaine Barmès-Buecher

30, rue Sainte-Gertrude, 68920 Wettolsheim, France

About the Winery

Founded in 1985 through the marriage of Geneviève Buecher and François Barmès, heirs both of winemaking families dating back to the 17th century, the domaine is situated 5 km southwest of Colmar in Wettolsheim. The estate has been farmed biodynamically since 1998, receiving certification in 2001. It now encompasses 7 distinct terroirs, including 3 Grand Crus. After the passing of their father in 2011, the couple's children Sophie and Maxime (at the cellar) joined the estate. The domaine produces a wide range of Alsace wines including Grand Cru Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, Crémant d'Alsace, and late harvest wines. The biodynamic approach emphasizes the life of the soil and the expression of each terroir.

A biodynamic estate since 1998 with 7 terroirs including 3 Grand Crus, where the marriage of two winemaking families created wines of exceptional terroir expression.
