About the Winery

Cave l'Étoile is one of the oldest and most important cooperative cellars for Banyuls and Collioure wines, located in Banyuls-sur-Mer on the Mediterranean coast near the Spanish border. Despite its modest size, it is the leading producer of Banyuls Grand Cru. The cooperative has nearly a century of experience crafting these unique fortified wines (vin doux naturel) from Grenache grapes grown on steep schist terraces overlooking the sea. The cave produces approximately 200,000 bottles annually, with 90% sold in bottle. They produce a range of styles from young, fresh Rimage cuvées to aged Grand Crus, as well as Collioure reds, whites, and Roses. The cooperative maintains traditional craftsmanship while adapting to modern tastes.
