About the Winery
The Fond Moiroux wine estate in Beaujolais was founded in 1789. Located in Cogny in the southern part of the Beaujolais region, the domaine covers 18 hectares. In 2008, the estate was acquired by Bernd and Marie Bachhausen, Luxembourg citizens and former bankers. The domaine includes 6 hectares of Gamay Noir and Chardonnay in the limestone soils surrounding the estate house, plus 2 hectares of Gamay in the prestigious Moulin-à-Vent cru appellation. The vineyards are farmed sustainably using organic practices, cover crops, and rigorous hand work. The winemaking returns to traditional Burgundy practices with full destemming, no carbonic maceration, fermentation in stainless steel, and aging in used oak barriques.
“A historic Beaujolais estate founded in 1789, revitalized by the Bachhausen family with sustainable farming and traditional winemaking.”
