Château Eugénie

1468, rte de Rivière-Haute, 46140 Albas, France

About the Winery

Château Eugénie is one of the most ancient historic estates of the Cahors AOC. According to departmental archives, the Couture family has been attested in service of the seigneur of Albas from 1470 — an exceptional lineage spanning over 550 years of family continuity. The château's name is a tribute to great-great-grandmother Eugénie who gave her first name to the property. Today, the estate covers 32 hectares of Cahors AOC plus 5 hectares of IGP Côtes du Lot at Albas on the right bank of the Lot. The vineyard sits on the 2nd and 3rd terraces of the Lot Valley, mid-slope hillsides, and causse plateaus, representing the complete set of principal AOC terroirs. Malbec dominates at approximately 85%, complemented by Merlot and Tannat. The estate is known for its flagship cuvées including Tradition, Cuvée Réservée de l'Aïeul, and the prestige cuvée Pierre le Grand. The Couture family welcomes visitors to the estate for tastings, guided tours, and wine experiences, with visits available Monday to Saturday year-round.

One of Cahors' most historic estates, with the Couture family present on these lands since 1470 — over 550 years of viticultural heritage.
