About the Winery

In 2018, the Rare cuvée from Piper Heidsieck became a brand in its own right: Rare Champagne. Its origins date to 1885 when a cuvée was created to celebrate the centenary of Champagne offered by the house to Queen Marie-Antoinette. Rare Champagne produces only vintage Champagnes in exceptional years, in limited series, with an assemblage privileging Chardonnay (70%) associated with Pinot Noir (30%) from the Montagne de Reims. Émilien Boutillat, the world's most-awarded winemaker in his field, has led the cellar since 2022.
