Baron de Montfaucon
About the Winery
Château de Montfaucon is a historic estate whose origins date to the 11th century when the first tower was built at a strategic bend of the Rhône River, directly across from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Wine has been produced here since the 15th century, and Montfaucon was one of the original eleven founding members of the Côte du Rhône association. In 1995, Rodolphe de Pins took over the family estate, rebuilding the winery and expanding it to more than 60 hectares. The estate produces wines across multiple appellations including Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône, and Vin de France, with a focus on preserving the region's two millennia of viticultural heritage. A négociant structure, La Société des Vins du Baron de Montfaucon, was created in 2014.
“An historic estate dating to the 11th century across from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with 60+ hectares managed by Rodolphe de Pins since 1995.”
