Domaine de Boischampt
About the Winery
Domaine de Boischampt is an estate with roots dating back to 1642 in Juliénas, Beaujolais. In 2018, it was acquired by Yuko and Bob Harris, an Australian-Japanese couple passionate about wine. They brought in Antoine Romero as General Manager from Burgundy, and Thibaud Baudin as oenologist. The estate has 15 hectares of steep granite vineyards and underwent significant restructuring, including a new winery. The estate began organic conversion in 2019. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously with native yeasts, with minimal sulfur added only at bottling. The wines are aged in concrete vats for 6 months to preserve freshness. The estate produces Juliénas, Fleurie, and Saint-Amour wines from old Gamay vines.
“A historic Juliénas estate acquired in 2018 by an Australian-Japanese couple, now producing organic wines from 15 hectares of steep granite vineyards.”
