Cellier de Marius Caïus

47, Grand-Rue, 83910 Pourrières, France

About the Winery

The Cellier de Marius Caïus is the cooperative cellar of Pourrières, located southeast of the iconic Montagne Sainte-Victoire in Provence. Its name recalls the Roman general Gaius Marius, who defeated the Cimbri and Teutons in 102 BC on the site of this Var village, as symbolized by a pyramid-shaped trophy reproduced on the label. Founded in 1912, the cellar is one of the largest cooperative wineries in the Var department, grouping 130 winegrowers who cultivate 900 hectares of vines. The cellar produces wines under three main appellations: AOP Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire, AOP Côtes de Provence, and IGP Var. Production is predominantly Rose (over 95%), alongside small amounts of red and white wines. Since 2015, the cellar has pursued a comprehensive quality approach, earning the Vignobles & Découvertes label and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification.
