Château du Petit Thouars
About the Winery
The Château du Petit Thouars has been in the family since 1636 and commands a 16-hectare vineyard at the westernmost edge of the Touraine appellation, at the junction of Chinon and Saumur. Sébastien, after a career in the music industry, joined the estate in 2019 and succeeded his father Yves in 2017. He has led the vineyard's conversion to organic agriculture and replanted 2 hectares of Chenin Blanc. The estate produces wines from Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc, reflecting the unique position where the Touraine, Chinon, and Saumur appellations meet. The wines balance the fruitiness of Cabernet Franc with the freshness of the Loire Valley's cool climate.
“A family estate since 1636 at the crossroads of Touraine, Chinon, and Saumur, now certified organic with Chenin Blanc replanted.”
