About the Winery

Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a 5th Growth (Cinquième Cru Classé) estate in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, run by Claire Villars-Lurton. The estate is a pioneer in regenerative agriculture and agroecology in Bordeaux. The name derives from its position at the top of the Bages plateau between Pauillac and Saint-Julien, and the Libéral family who owned the estate during the 18th century. The 30-hectare vineyard is planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc, with vines averaging 40 years old. The estate offers unique experiences including 'The Agroecology Experience' (tasting of 3 wines with appetizers by Michelin-starred chef Vivien Durand for €30), 'The Memory of the Château' vertical tasting (4 vintages for €50), and 'Our Natural Pairings' food and wine pairing (€75). The estate also offers private dining experiences from €200/person. Open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm.
