About the Winery

Mas Amiel is an emblematic historic estate in Roussillon, founded in 1816 when Raymond Amiel won the deeds to the property from the Bishop of Perpignan over a game of cards. At the time, the estate was a modest 10 hectares; today it spans 170 hectares of vineyards on the region's famous black Albien Marl and limestone shales. The estate was bought by Olivier Decelle in 1999, who has done much to raise its profile both qualitatively and commercially, making it the leading producer of Vins Doux Naturels in the area. The estate is fully certified organic and biodynamic. The vineyard is 70% Grenache, and the estate produces three distinct styles: Mas Amiel 'Vintage' (sweet Red Maurys and White Muscat de Rivesaltes), Mas Amiel 'Vers le Nord' (dry red wines), and Alt.433 (lighter, fresher reds). The estate also pioneered dry Maury wines, with Olivier Decelle being the first to produce a dry wine at Mas Amiel.

An historic estate in Roussillon founded in 1816, now 170 hectares, fully organic and biodynamic, famous for Vins Doux Naturels and pioneering dry Maury wines.
