About the Winery

Domaine de la Janasse is one of the benchmark estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, founded in the 1970s by Aimé Sabon and now run by his children Christophe and Isabelle. The estate has grown from 15 hectares to over 90 hectares, with vineyards spanning a mosaic of terroirs including rolled pebbles (galets roulés), sandy soils, clay-limestone, and red clay. The estate practices organic viticulture and produces several cuvées including the flagship Vieilles Vignes (from vines planted as far back as 1920) and Cuvée Chaupin (100% old-vine Grenache from sandy soils). Their wines are celebrated for combining power with elegance, concentration with freshness, and consistently receive high scores from critics. The estate also produces wines from Côtes du Rhône and other appellations.
