About the Winery

Château de l'Engarran is an 18th-century 'Folie' Montpellier, a historic monument since 1926, located near Montpellier in the Languedoc. Founded in 1632 by Henri D'Engarran, the estate began with a modest house and 9 hectares of vineyards. In 1722, the current château and French-style park were constructed, expanding the vineyard to around 20 hectares. The Bertrand family acquired the estate in 1924, and five generations later, it spans approximately 60 hectares. The estate has prioritized sustainable agriculture for over 15 years, adhering to the Terra Vitis label. The vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate with abundant sunshine, mild temperatures, and refreshing sea breezes. The winemakers vinify each plot separately, often dividing them further to highlight the nuances of each micro-terroir. The estate produces red, white, Rose, orange, sparkling, sweet, and fortified wines. Open all year round Monday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 7pm.
