Château FONROQUE, 33330 Saint-Émilion, France

About the Winery

Château Fonroque is a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé located near the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, spanning 17.5 hectares of vineyards on clay-limestone soils. The estate is planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with vines averaging 35 years of age. Acquired in 1931 by Jean and Adèle Moueix, the estate has since been passed down through generations. Since 2017, the Guillard family has owned the estate and continues the work in organic and biodynamic agriculture. The wines are aged in 30% new barrels and 70% one-year barrels, with an annual production of approximately 60,000 bottles. The estate holds organic agriculture certification, Biodyvin, and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) status. Château Fonroque offers private tours with introductions to biodynamics and tastings of their wines.

A historic Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture since 2017 under the Guillard family.
