Château Laffitte Carcasset

Carcasset, 33180 Saint-Estèphe, France

About the Winery

Château Laffitte Carcasset was founded in 1759 at 'Le Carcasset', in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation. In 1781, Jean Laffitte, lawyer and prosecutor to King Louis XVI in Bordeaux, gave his name to the estate. The property features a beautiful 18th-century chartreuse surrounded by classified growths of Saint-Estèphe. The 40-hectare vineyard is planted on the gravelly plateau near the Gironde estuary, primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The estate was acquired by Pierre Rousseau in 2016, who gave it a second youth with complete renovation of the cellars, vat room, and chartreuse. In 2017, he also acquired Château Haut-Beauséjour with its 5 hectares. Renowned oenologist Hubert de Boüard of Château Angélus advises the property. The estate now offers accommodation and is committed to wine tourism.
