Domaine Courbis
About the Winery
Domaine Courbis is a reliable value in the Northern Rhône Valley, particularly renowned for its Cornas and Saint-Joseph appellations. Dominique and Laurent Courbis have been running the estate since the late 1980s, succeeding their father in managing a 40-hectare domain whose origins date back to the 17th century. The majority of the vines are perched on very steep slopes at altitudes exceeding 250 meters, requiring hand-harvesting and meticulous vineyard work. The domain produces wines exclusively from Syrah for reds and Marsanne/Roussanne for whites, capturing the mineral intensity and concentration that define the best Northern Rhône wines. Their Cornas wines are particularly noted for their power and aging potential, while their Saint-Joseph offerings provide elegance and finesse.
“A benchmark Northern Rhône estate since the 17th century, celebrated for powerful Cornas and elegant Saint-Joseph wines from steep hillside vineyards.”
