Zacatecas

Overview

Zacatecas is home to some of the highest vineyards in Mexico, with plantings rising well above 2,000 meters and some reaching near 2,300 meters. The rugged mountain terrain creates sharp day-night temperature swings and a cool, dry growing environment.

Malbec is the signature grape, joined by Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. Clayey soils retain precious moisture in the semi-arid climate, supporting vines in a landscape of dramatic elevation.
