Overview
Trebinje lies about ninety minutes south of Mostar in a scenic basin surrounded by mountains. The town has a long wine tradition and is home to the Tvrdoš Monastery, whose monks have produced wine since the 16th century, and to family estates such as Vukoje, which specialize in Vranac and Trnjak.
The climate is slightly warmer and more continental than the Mostar area, producing fuller-bodied reds with firmer tannins. Trebinje is best visited as a separate day trip from Mostar, often combined with the monastery, the town's Ottoman old quarter, and local restaurants serving grilled lamb and aged cheeses.
Key Varietals

- TrnjakA rare indigenous red revived here in premium, often oak-aged styles.
- ŽilavkaA crisp white that provides refreshment in the warm southern climate.
- BlatinaA dry red that appears in both blends and single-varietal wines from local growers.
