Overview
Traisental is Austria's second-smallest wine region, located along the Traisen River south of the Danube. Despite its size, it has built a strong reputation for high-quality Grüner Veltliner, thanks to its terraced vineyards, primary rock soils, and cool continental climate.
The region's Grüner Veltliner is known for its precision, minerality, and spicy character. Riesling also performs well on the steeper, rockier sites, while a small amount of red wine is made from Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.
