Overview
Târnave sits at roughly 300 metres within the Carpathian basin, with vineyards on south- and southwest-facing slopes above the two Târnava rivers. Cool continental conditions and late-season mists preserve high natural acidity.
The region is famed as the birthplace of Fetească Regală and a cradle of Fetească Albă. Alongside these, Muscat Ottonel, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir thrive on clay, marl, gravel and brown soils.
Key Varietals
- Fetească RegalăA natural crossing born here, giving crisp, aromatic whites with apple and blossom.
- Fetească AlbăAn ancient white that shows delicate stone fruit and bright acidity in the cool basin.
- Muscat OttonelAn aromatic variety producing fragrant, floral and lightly spicy whites.
- Rhine RieslingA late-ripening white that keeps citrus zest and minerality in Târnave's cool nights.
