Südsteiermark

A green, hilly region in southern Styria producing crisp, aromatic white wines.

Overview

Südsteiermark, or South Styria, is one of Austria's most picturesque wine regions, with steep, green hills that resemble parts of Slovenia and northern Italy. The cool, wet climate is ideal for white wine production, particularly aromatic varieties.

Sauvignon Blanc is the standout grape, producing wines of herbaceous intensity, citrus, and minerality. Morillon, the local name for Chardonnay, and Gelber Muskateller also perform beautifully, making Südsteiermark a paradise for lovers of crisp, food-friendly whites.
