Stredoslovenská Vineyards
Southern central Slovakia, across the Krupina plateau and Ipeľ lowland

Stredoslovenská

A quiet volcanic heartland producing fresh, aromatic wines from Slovakia's historic tableland.

Overview

Stredoslovenská unfolds across the southern slopes of the Krupina plateau and the gently elevated Ipeľ lowland, a landscape of table mountains and scattered vineyard tracts. The continental climate is mild and dry, with volcanic andesite bedrock and andosols giving the wines a youthful, clean character.

The region is known for aromatic whites led by Rizling vlašský, Veltlínske zelené, and Müller-Thurgau, while reds from Frankovka modrá, Svätovavrinecké, and Cabernet Sauvignon reveal surprising elegance. Frankovka from this area earned international attention at the 2002 World Wine Congress.

Key Varietals

  • Veltlínske zelenéFresh and aromatic, with white pepper, green apple, and bright acidity on volcanic-derived soils.
  • Müller-ThurgauA floral, early-ripening white that produces light, refreshing wines with gentle stone-fruit notes.
  • RieslingGrown on cooler slopes, offering delicate citrus and mineral expression in a youthful style.
  • Frankovka modráA spicy, medium-bodied red with vivid ruby colour, red cherry fruit, and savoury undertones.
