Stolac

Overview

Stolac sits in southern Herzegovina along the Bregava River, roughly halfway between Mostar and Trebinje. The town is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the region and is now part of the expanding Herzegovina Wine Route, with small family wineries producing wine and olive oil on the surrounding karst plateaus.

The local vineyards share Herzegovina's signature combination of limestone bedrock, red soils, and a long, warm growing season. Žilavka and Blatina remain the focus, but the area's proximity to historic sites such as the Radimlja necropolis and the Old Town makes it a compelling stop for cultural and wine tourism combined.
