Recaș Vineyards
Western Romania at the contact of the Lipova Hills and the Banat Plain, Timiș County

Recaș

A Banat star where mild seasons and sub-Mediterranean breezes ripen both reds and whites.

Overview

Recaș lies in the Banat Hills at roughly 45 degrees north, where gentle 100 to 200 metre slopes face south, southeast and southwest. The site benefits from a long growing season and some of Romania's mildest winters.

A temperate continental climate touched by sub-Mediterranean air produces balanced wines. The vineyards are known for fresh Fetească Regală, Burgund Mare and international varieties such as Pinot Noir, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.

Key Varietals

  • Fetească RegalăA versatile white delivering crisp orchard fruit and floral aromatics.
  • Burgund MareA historic Banat red related to Pinot Noir, giving light, fresh red wines.
  • Fetească NeagrăA native red that gains ripe black fruit and spice in Recaș's warm autumns.
  • Sauvignon BlancAn international white that keeps zesty citrus and herbal freshness here.
