Oakville

Overview

Oakville is a narrow two-mile stretch of Napa Valley floor renowned for producing some of the most sought-after Cabernet Sauvignon in the world. The region sits on well-drained alluvial fans and gravelly benchland deposited by centuries of mountain runoff. The climate is warm but moderated by fog and breezes, allowing slow, even ripening and excellent phenolic development.

Cabernet Sauvignon dominates plantings, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc. Historic vineyards such as To Kalon have shaped Oakville's reputation for wines of depth, concentration, and balance. The district is home to many of Napa Valley's most iconic producers.
