Mudgee

Overview

Mudgee is one of New South Wales' oldest wine regions, located west of the Blue Mountains. The warm, dry climate and red-brown soils produce full-bodied red wines and ripe, flavorful whites with a long history of quality production.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are the traditional strengths, producing wines of dark fruit, chocolate, and firm tannins. Chardonnay also performs well, offering a richer, more generous style than cooler Australian regions.
