Overview

Malta is the largest island of the Maltese archipelago, lying just 80 kilometres south of Sicily. Its compact, hilly landscape is dotted with small family vineyards and historic estates planted on terraced slopes that have been cultivated since Phoenician and Roman times.

The island's northern clay-limestone soils are often favoured for white varieties, while the warmer, more clay-rich south is the heartland of red wine production. A handful of pioneering wineries combine traditional methods with modern cellars, crafting wines that reflect Malta's unique island terroir.
