Leithaberg

A limestone-rich Burgenland region producing mineral whites and powerful Blaufränkisch.

Overview

Leithaberg is a DAC region in northern Burgenland, centered around the Leitha Mountains. The area is known for its limestone and slate soils, which give both white and red wines a distinctive mineral backbone and fresh acidity.

Blaufränkisch is the star red, producing wines of elegance, spice, and aging potential. Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, and Chardonnay are the permitted white varieties, often showing a smoky, mineral character that reflects the region's stony terroir.
