Drăgășani Vineyards
Oltenia, along the right bank of the Olt River between Vâlcea and Olt counties

Drăgășani

Oltenia's oldest vineyard, where the Olt valley shapes fresh whites and elegant reds.

Overview

Drăgășani is the oldest recorded vineyard in Oltenia, running parallel to the Olt River for about 50 to 65 km. Narrow hills rise from 200 to 500 metres, with north-south slopes that drain cold air and capture sunshine.

Calcareous clay soils with limestone, sand, gravel and marl support a mix of indigenous and international grapes. The area is especially prized for Crâmpoșie Selecționată whites, Negru de Drăgășani reds and increasingly refined sparkling wines.

Key Varietals

  • Crâmpoșie SelecționatăA local white prized for bright acidity, minerality and citrus fruit.
  • Negru de DrăgășaniA native red yielding fresh, medium-bodied wines with berry and herbal notes.
  • Fetească RegalăRomania's most planted white, here showing crisp green apple and floral aromas.
  • Fetească NeagrăPlanted in warmer parcels, it adds dark cherry, spice and supple tannins.
