Dorset's vineyards cluster on south-facing slopes near the Jurassic Coast, where Furleigh Estate, Bride Valley, Langham, and Little Waddon are turning Kimmeridgian and chalky soils into striking wines. The region is small but fast-growing, with a reputation for both traditional-method sparkling wines and expressive still whites and rosés.

The county's fossil-rich soils include chalk, limestone, clay, and flint, often compared to Champagne's geology. A mild, temperate maritime climate and coastal breezes moderate temperatures, while careful site selection provides the drainage and sun exposure that cool-climate grapes need.
