Carnuntum

A compact region between Vienna and Bratislava producing bold reds and elegant whites.

Overview

Carnuntum is a small but dynamic wine region located between Vienna and Bratislava, where the Danube and March rivers meet. The area's warm, dry climate and gravelly soils have made it a rising star for red wines, particularly Blaufränkisch and Zweigelt.

While whites such as Grüner Veltliner and Chardonnay are also produced, Carnuntum is increasingly recognized as one of Austria's best addresses for structured, spicy reds. The region's proximity to Vienna makes it a popular destination for day trips and wine tourism.
